Breakout Player Spotlight: Nate Robertson

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

The latest feature to MLB Rumors that will cover players that are on the verge of breaking out. This week we will cover Nate Robertson, who is 3-1 with a 2.48 ERA and 23 K. Robertson has been known to be an innings eater, and from what I've seen so far this season, he's hiding the ball a lot better, and is throwing with a lot of power. The Tigers are also providing a lot of run support, and going on winning streaks a lot more often than last year. This will be beneficial to Robertson who will gather wins with a lot more regularity if the run support continues. What does this mean or the Tigers? Having Robertson pitching well will help the Tigers a lot more this year because it will be someone the Tigers can rely on a lot more, especially late in the season. Career wise, Robertson is 36-43 with a 4.44 ERA and 473 K, but it is evident that he is anchoring the Tigers rotation so far this season, especially with Kenny Rogers out.

2007 Preseason Projection: 12-11 W-L, 4.01 ERA, 143 K

2007 Revised Projection: 14-9 W-L, 3.76 ERA, 146 K
