Monday, May 7, 2007

The Tigers announced today that Joel Zumaya will be out for 12 weeks, and they hope to have him back by early August. Tigers flamethrower Joel Zumaya has a ruptured tendon in his middle right finger, and doctors think that the injury came about him after he felt a pop in his finger Saturday, and then intense pain Sunday which forced the trainer out to the bullpen during the game. Zumaya had a 1-1 record and 3.63 ERA in 13 appearances so far this season, striking out 17 batters over 17 1/3 innings while issuing 11 walks.
