Mark DeRosa Proving What He's Worth

Friday, April 6, 2007

Mark DeRosa belted another homerun against the Brewers tonight, making that two in the past two days. He currently owns a .462 AVG with 2 HR and 5 RBI over four games. After signing a 3 year contract, worth 13 million dollars back in November, many people thought it was a bad move, hoping the money would go somewhere else. However, if DeRosa can continue to produce the way he is, there is no doubt in anyones mind that he would be quite a bargain. DeRosa put up career highs in every category last year except batting average, but he's currently looking like he could put up new highs if he continues to play like he is. DeRosa is also an exceptional fielder, having played every position on the field except Pitcher and Catcher.

Rich Hill also dominated the Brewers pitching 7.0 innings, giving up one hit, and one run, being a homerun to Cory Hart. He also had 6 K's. In Rich Hill's final twelve starts last year, he went 6-3 with a 2.65 ERA. That is when many experts suggested that Hill could have made a big step toward becoming a good big league pitcher. And this game definitely hints that he has reached that stage in his career.

FANTASY SUGGESTION FOR MARK DeROSA: DeROSA IS A GOOD BALLPLAYER, BUT I WOULD WAIT AND SEE IF HE CONTINUES TO PRODUCE. AND IF HE DOES, IF YOU ARE LACKING AT SECOND BASE OR NEED AN EXTRA BENCH PLAYER TO PLATOON, I WOULD PICK HIM UP. BUT IT IS ONLY IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY LACKING AT SECOND BASE.

FANTASY SUGGESTION FOR RICH HILL: HILL WOULD BE A GOOD PICKUP BECAUSE IF HE HAS ANOTHER GOOD START, ESPECIALLY FOLLOWING THE ONE HE JUST HAD, PEOPLE WILL START TO LOOK AT HIM (ESPECIALLY WITH THE EXTRA COVERAGE ON ESPN). HE IS A GOOD LEFTY AND HE WILL GET A LOT OF RUN SUPPORT THIS YEAR. HE IS A GREAT END OF THE ROTATION GUY FOR YOUR TEAM AND WOULD ADD AT LEAST 10 WINS TO YOUR TEAM.
