Reds Sign Freel

The Reds sign utility player Ryan Freel to a two year deal, worth seven million dollars. Under the terms of the deal, he will make 3 million in 2008, and 4 million in 2009. Freel, 31, has been with the Reds since 2003, and has lead the team in stolen bases the past three years. Career wise, he is .274 career hitter, with 19 HR, and 91 RBI. In his career, he has played 2B, 3B, and OF. He is currently the Reds starting outfielder. This is a good signing because he gets on base, and is a decent enough fielder to hold that spot for the years to come. Furthermore, he hasn't been effected by injuries so he should not be of concern for the Reds.
