According to sources close to Ken Rosenthal, The Devil Rays may have won the bid to negotiate with Japan's All-Star 3B Akinori Iwamura. It is just a report; however, the Padres are the only other team that is known to have bid. Also, the Devil Rays contacted Mark Mulder about pitching for them next year. Mulder, who battled injuries all year, is receiving a lot of interest this off-season. More than twelve teams have contacted him so he probably will not have a problem finding somewhere to pitch next season.
