NL East Update

Mets: Now that the Mets have signed Alou, they will turn there attention briefly to Glavine and find out if he wants in or out. They seem set on making a serious run for Zito. And for Zito, he seems content with playing for the Mets next season.

Phillies
: After losing out on Aramis Ramirez and Alfonso Soriano, the Phillies are forced to stay with Pat Burrell and David Dellucci. Unless they try for Carlos Lee, however, reports say they are not interested. They will probably try and swing a trade for Vernon Wells or maybe even Manny Ramirez.

Nationals: The Nationals, who have been known to go after veterans who no one wants, will look to sign a pitcher or two, and an outfielder to one or two year deals.

Marlins: The Marlins have been focused on minor moves lately. The Marlins traded left-handers Jason Vargas and Adam Bostick for righties Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom. The Marlins also sent right-hander Chris Resop to the Los Angeles Angels for right-hander Kevin Gregg.

Braves: The Braves are waiting to see what happens to Glavine and see if their interest is genuine. With the numerous players on their team drawing interest (Giles, Jones, Hudson), GM Schuerholz may look to trades before signings.
