White Sox Acquire Quentin

Monday, December 3, 2007

The White Sox today acquired Carlos Quentin in exchange for prospect Chris Carter. Although Quentin batted .214 with 5 HR in 81 games, he is believed to have pretty good power, if he can stay healthy. The Diamondbacks definitely won this one though. Not only do they acquire a solid first baseman with power and a good eye of the strike zone, but it opens the way for Justin Upton to play everyday. Some may say that because he is in Single-A, he has not proven himself, and that may be true. But giving a spot to Upton will improve the offense, and give Carter a chance to rise into position with the Diamondbacks.

I am glad that Eli knows that one team definitely won a trade involving one player who hasnt played a full season in the majors and one player who is in A ball. I wish I could buy his crystal ball and give it to the gm of my favorite baseball team.
