Johnson Not Worth The Risk for Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks and Yankees have had several talks concerning Randy Johnson, but the Diamondbacks feel the asking price is to high. According to one baseball source, the Yankees are asking for two pitchers, and a reliever. However, it is not clear whether Johnson will even be ready for Opening Day. This could have been a desperate attempt to draw fans but GM Josh Byrnes now feels the long run effects will actually turn out to be bad for the Diamondbacks. Johnson, who went 17-11 with a 5.00 ERA, is also drawing interest from the Padres and Giants.

Diamondbacks would be stupid to trade for Johnson, so I voted no.
Yes, but the question is will the Yankees TRADE him... not would the Diamondbacks TRADE FOR him. I believe he will be traded because he is expendable and being a Diamondback fan and knowing the DBacks management, they will only deal for him if part of the contract is paid for by the Yankees and will inevitably give up a 1-2 players that will eventually play very well for New York (to join the likes of Chris Capuano, John Patterson, Lyle Overbay, Dan Uggla, and Brad Penny). I can see a Dustin Nippert, Micah Owings, and a reliever for Randy Johnson and cash deal happening to bring fans into the seats.
