Indians To Trade Sabathia?

Sunday, June 1, 2008

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Indians may consider shopping CC Sabathia if they fall out of contention by the All Star break. Sabathia is going to leave via free agency at the end of the season anyways, so if they can cash in on a hitter and a couple prospects, it would be worth their while. Rosenthal mentions the Dodgers and Yankees at the top of the list for Sabathia, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rockies take a look. The Indians have already been linked to the Rockies because of Garrett Atkins and Matt Holliday, and it is possible we could see them make a swap.

Rockies third base prospect Ian Stewart is doing well for the Rockies so far, and that could possible convince the Rockies to trade Atkins. However, with Holliday a free agent after 2009, they might not want to make a long term investment on Sabathia.

See, this was what I was afraid of, the Indians getting a slow start and speculation can run about where C.C. will be headed. If he does the smart thing, he ought to stay in Cleveland for a deal that could pay him $18-20 million and he knows how Cleveland is rather than test the free agent market and move his family to a new surrounding. Help build the Indians to a perrenial contender for year, teaming up with Fausto Carmona. No other team can offer that.

Going to the rockies makes no sense because they cant afford C.C. and r not going to contend for the WS this year last year was just insane but it wont happen this year

if the indians do trade cc it should be to the cubs because of there loaded farms and cubs have prospects to give...preferably Felix Pie

the indians are not going to pay cc 18-20 million a year i think thats pretty much a given unless its only like a 3 or 4 year deal but he can get more years from another team and get more money. if the indians really feel they can sign him or dont want to put all that money into one player then why not trade him and get a nice return

The Rox cant afford, the Cubs owners cannot make that move yet, and the Yanks dont have the bullets. That leaves the west coast teams. Dodgers/Padres/Angels are the most likely of targets left.

because the Indians are not going to get a nice deal, nothing but prospects. What I want is an all star for an all star. Remember too, the Indians can not win the division without C.C. so unless this team gives up, we are not going to unload him, it doesn't matter what Ken tries to say.
