Jacque Jones for Jason Jennings?

The Cubs have offered Jacque Jones to the Rockies for Jason Jennings. Jones, who is scheduled to make 4 million in 2007 and 5 million in 2008, would probably then be traded some where else. To get a deal done, the Cubs would probably need to trade one of their young pitchers too. Hendry has said that Rich Hill is untouchable, so he will look to trade one of the young pitchers who had success in AAA, or something like Juan Mateo or Carlos Marmol. Jones batted .285 with 27 HR and 81 RBI. Jennings pitched 9-13 with a 3.78 ERA and 142 K. The Cubs are looking to add a center field, and it appears they are either going to sign Julio Lugo or Kenny Lofton.

I know I am in the minority with this but I'll miss Jacque if he goes, he was a good signing and had a solid year for a club that sucked. Proved to everyone in baseball he could still play too. Thanks for a great year JJ.
I agree with you... I will miss him, but we do need pitching...
i have mixed feelings about jones. he had a great year, but he is a terrible fielder, and did terrible vs. lefties. i do not know if I would give up cedno but I would give up marmol or mateo. jennigs had a sub 400 era and would improve with the cubs great power in wrigley. I would do it, it could also free up some cash. hopefully we could get lofton or lugo if we trade him
It would be tough getting rid of the only current lefty bat in the lineup. I like his gap power and opposite field power. He is still pretty young. Unfortunately playing center field for the Cubs would probably hurt his offense. I think it would be a decent swap though.

They probably won't get him because of Minnesota. Minnesota is offering Matt Garza their number 1 prospect and who wants Jacque jones and when you have Matt holiday. Other than Jason Jennings and Jake westbrook what are their other possible trades. Thanks Baseball GUy

yeah, jennings will probably go to houston or minnesota. if they do not acquire jennings or westbrook. they will look to sign lilly, and then possibly go after schmidt. other pitchers are marquis, suppan, batista, and meche
