Josh Barfield to Indians: Great Trade

Friday, November 10, 2006

For the Indians, that is. The Tribe traded away infielder Kevin Kouzmanoff and reliever Andrew Brown. Barfield gives the Tribe a good bat and great speed to fill a hole at second base. Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a grand slam in his first Major League at bat but is a third baseman, and they already have Andy Marte to take that spot. For Andrew Brown, he was out of minor league options and that was the only option they had. The only question I have: What were the Padres thinking? Barfield batted .280 with 13 homeruns, 58 RBI's and 21 stolen bases. Now the Padres have a hole at second, already have one at third with Todd Walker. Possible situation: Move Walker to second and try Kevin Kouzmanoff at third. I'm sure Barfield will thrive in Cleveland, a mellow town that is hoping there team can turn it around. It is the perfect place for someone like him to develop into an all-star.
